“For the week ending 24 May, the following key works were completed by Council staff”, noted Council’s Mayor, Cr. Ray Thompson.
“Within the urban Lithgow area last week, Council staff worked towards the completion of a number of maintenance and improvement projects,” said Mayor Thompson. “A number of kerb inlets have been replaced in Higgins Street and Stewart Street to improve storm water flow throughout the area. In response to public enquiry during the community information session in Cook Street Plaza, staff saw to the removal of graffiti at the Hassans Walls Lookout. Third, in line with the Farmers Creek Masterplan, work has commenced on the abutment construction to facilitate the construction of a number of pedestrian footpaths over Farmers Creek and continue extending this footpath for the benefit of the community.”
“In the last week Council’s rural works staff have continued their focus on the maintenance of unsealed roads but have also seen to some other local improvements also,” noted Mayor Thompson. Maintenance of Marsden Swamp Road and Wolgan Road is continuing while the grading of Capertee streets is complete. Staff have moved to Hampton and Ben Bullen and once completed, will commence in Dark Corner. Alongside this maintenance, drainage improvements have been completed on Forest Ridge Drive, roadside slashing has been completed on Ganbenang Road and commenced on Rydal Hampton Road and asphalt patching has been ongoing on Rydal Hampton Road.”
“I’d like to conclude by extending my gratitude to the Council staff who make every effort possible to provide their services to the set-up, preparation, maintenance and improvement of community facilities prior to large scale events,” said Mayor Thompson. “On a weekly basis, staff strive to prepare sporting fields, beautify streetscapes and maintain assets prior to community events occurring to ensure our town is presented in its best light. This week, staff allocated a great deal of resources to assisting in the preparation of facilities of the Catholic Ball while also ensuring that Tony Luchetti, Marjorie Jackson and other playing fields throughout the area were well-prepared for local training and events.”
