Calling young musicians! Register for The Bluestone Sessions

Published on 23 May 2019

Do you know a musical teenager in the shire making original music?

Encourage them to apply to take part in Council’s new initiative, The Bluestone Sessions–a project for musicians aged 10–25 years of age who live, work or study in the Macedon Ranges.

The sessions offer young musicians and band the chance to rehearse and record two original songs, make a professional video clip and perform at a world-class venue in front of a large audience.

Mayor, Cr Janet Pearce said the initiative was a result of findings from the recent Youth Strategy 2018–2028, developed in collaboration with young people in region.

“Feedback collected as part of the youth strategy highlighted that young people want to see more live bands here in the shire,” Cr Pearce said.

“The Bluestone Sessions provides an opportunity for that, and also a chance to young people to create connections and develop new skills such as live music recording and performance.

“There are so many talented young people here in the shire, we’re looking forward to seeing them showcase what they can do as part of this initiative.”

Applications to take part in the program close Friday 31 May.
