Community members sought for Lismore Public Art Project

Published on 29 May 2019

Lismore and district residents are invited to be part of a public arts project to transform the water tower at Lismore Golf Course.

Interested residents will form a community reference group to help guide the project.

The group will be assisted by Regional Arts Victoria representative Jo Grant.

North Ward Councillor Lesley Brown said the reference group would provide advice on themes and selection of the artist.

“Public arts projects can add a lot of depth and cultural meaning to landmarks in rural communities, or they can simply liven up an area and be a talking point.

“We have seen how projects such as these can reinvigorate communities and it is important to have residents genuinely invested in the project from the start,” Cr Brown said.

“At the moment we have a blank canvas so I encourage residents to get involved.”

Reference group members will be expected to attend four meetings over the course of the project, to be completed by June 2020.

To apply, residents need to:

Briefly describe why they want to be part of the community reference group and any special interest they have Indicate what times and days of the week they are available to attend meetings Provide name, email, address and phone number

Expressions of interest can be sent to Corangamite Shire, PO Box 84, Camperdown or emailed to [email protected] by Tuesday 11 June.

Interested community members can speak to Tammy Young on 5593 7100 for more information.
