City helps local community groups and organisations
City of Armadale 29 May 2019

Round two of the City of Armadale’s Community Grants Program will see over $12,000 allocated to 11 community groups and not for profit organisations for projects and programs to be delivered.

From electronic equipment for a local Men’s Shed to sports equipment for an athletics group, the funding will deliver considerable benefits to the wider community.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the Community Grants Program, which attracted 14 applications this round, was part of the City’s commitment to local community organisations who do so much for this great City with limited budgets.

“Our City is fortunate to have some wonderful community organisations and volunteers providing a range of services.  The City is pleased to provide assistance through our community grants program,” Mayor Zelones said.

Some of the activities and projects which the Community Grants Program will make possible include a community mentoring event auspiced by Roleystone Community College as part of the Torchlight Youth Mentoring Project and Team Connect WA Inc will roll out a program for students in Term 3 at Armadale Senior High School.

“Our funding pool is limited, but we do our best to help as many organisations located within the City as possible throughout the year, which in turn benefits the wider community,” said Mayor Zelones.

Each financial year, the City provides two rounds of community grant funding, designed to support locally based initiatives, developed by community groups and organisations within the City of Armadale.

Grants of up to $2000 are available to sporting clubs, school P&C’s, welfare, arts, youth, seniors and ethnic groups to help fund activities, projects and programs which benefit Armadale community members.
