Gold Logie nominee and celebrity gardener Costa Georgiadis headlines the Cairns Ecofiesta, this Sunday, 2 June 2019 at the Cruise Liner Terminal.
Known for his beard, loved for his passion, Costa will be joined by ABC’s Dirtgirl for the Get Grubby kids show on the main stage at 11am.
Now in its fifth year, Ecofiesta is the regions premier sustainable living festival that combines a full day of live entertainment with a huge indoor expo featuring over 100 market stalls, with everything from solar installers, through to organic beauty products.
Amid a full day of entertainment and eco-friendly advice, will be interactive workshops on sustainability topics like home composting, gardening in the tropics, caring for injured wildlife, bike maintenance and a session dedicated to understanding solar.
There is also a chance to calculate your own carbon footprint and check out special exhibits like the Tropical Tiny House and the Country, Handle with Care cinema & VR experience.
A backyard petting zoo, face-painting and recycle relays will keep the young at heart entertained in the Family Garden Zone, where they also can personally meet Dirtgirl on the green carpet.
Mayor Bob Manning said the event is a showcase of sustainable living in the tropics.
“Ecofiesta is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate the natural environment while seeing what sustainable living products and services are available in our community,” Cr Manning said.
“We live in one of the most beautiful and amazing parts of the world, with a diverse natural environment and we can all play a part in protecting it.
“Small steps can make a world of difference when it comes to reducing our impact on the planet.
“Ecofiesta is an all ages event, with free entry, entertainment and eco-activities for everyone.”
