Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has re-opened Post Office Road at Ravensbourne after carrying out major culvert improvement works. The construction work that began in February has seen the replacement of a steel culvert which was in poor condition with a new concrete box culvert to modern standards.

TRC Chair of the Infrastructure Committee Cr Carol Taylor said the new culvert on Post Office Road would bring numerous benefits including improved flood immunity, safety for all road users and ensure continued access for the local community.

“The works included increasing the road width to a total of 8.6 metres shoulder to shoulder, installation of guardrails and improved drainage throughout the site, Cr Taylor said.

“Council would like to thank the affected residents for their patience during the project.

“The Post Office Road Culvert Replacement project has been made possible through a funding contribution of 50% from the Australian Government’s Bridges Renewal Program.”
