Asbestos material found at sportsground

As a precaution and in accordance with Work, Health and Safety regulations, an area along the northern perimeter fence has been fenced off and signage erected to warn of the find.

General Manager, Frank Zaknich said the material is described as bonded asbestos which is classified as “Non-Friable” and was located on the surface and is considered low risk.

The contractor, Hansen Yuncken is in the process of engaging an asbestos removal company and the removal works will take place as soon as possible.

The asbestos discovery will not impact football and netball games scheduled over the weekend.
