Mayor Wendy Waller has welcomed 41 students from seven local primary schools to Liverpool City Library to brainstorm their ideas for the future of Liverpool.
The initiative was organised by Liverpool City Council with workshops centred around key questions such as “How will we look after the environment in the future?” and “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
The year 5 and 6 students were encouraged to listen to each other with curiosity and respect to come up with a shared vision.
Students and a graphic artist brought their ideas alive illustrating a bright future for Liverpool.
“Planning for the future can be a challenging task but Council believes we are on the right track by including many voices in the process,” Mayor Waller said.
“A great city balances connectivity, liveability, productivity and sustainability and Council is considering them all as it plans for the future.
“Council will take on the student’s thoughts and incorporate them into our Local Strategic Planning Statement which is a blueprint for Liverpool’s future.
“We are looking to develop a long-term strategic plan for the next 30 years.
“Throughout 2019, Council will reach out to residents to hear their aspirations for their suburb and their community in a range of different ways.”
