The upgraded Lakes Entrance Aquadome aquatics area will re-open to the public this Saturday, June 8, and East Gippsland Shire Council wants you to join in the fun.
Enjoy free activities like aqua aerobics, Mighty Tots and Mighty Kids programs, Body Pump, a jumping castle, yoga, face painting and the huge inflatable Aqua Run to celebrate the completion of works.
The upgrades include new roofing on the 24-year-old building, two new spas, flooring upgrades, new seating, bright picture displays, a repaint of the pool hall, changeroom updates (including dividers added between all showers), and carpark improvements.
Mayor Cr Natalie O’Connell said the Lakes Entrance Aquadome is a fantastic facility and the upgrade will serve the Lakes Entrance and surrounding communities and many visitors well into the future.
“I extend an invitation to everyone to come along to the re-opening of the Aquadome and enjoy some free activities, try out some new exercises and check out the newly refurbished aquatics area,” Cr O’Connell said.
Swimming lessons are expected to resume on Tuesday, June 11 for a three-week term and information has been sent out to participants. An intensive two-week holiday program during the July school holidays will also be offered. Contact the Aquadome for more information.
Cr O’Connell thanked the community for their patience during the six-week closure of the aquatics area.
“For our in-house staff and contractors to program these works together to reduce the need for any future long-term disruptions, complete the work in six weeks, and maintain services such as the gym, creche, café and children’s programs during that time is a great result.”
