New requirements for the advertising animals for sale come into force on the 1 July 2019
From the 1st July 2019 new NSW Government requirements of selling or giving away companion animals will be enforced.
All advertised companion animals must include a microchip number OR a breeder identification number OR a rehoming organization number. If you don’t use an identification number, or you falsify a number you could be issued with an on-the-spot fine or face court where a maximum penalty of $5,500 applies.
In NSW a Cat or Dog must be microchipped before its 12 weeks old or before you sell it, whichever occurs first. To find out more visit www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/companion-animals
