Amateur photographers are encouraged to capture the magic of the region and showcase their talent through the annual Barossa Photographic Calendar Competition.
A panel of local judges will select thirteen images which encompass the theme of wine and vintage; food and produce; heritage and culture; festival and events and landscapes, for publication in the 2020 calendar. Plus, the ‘Children’s Choice’ category returns again this year, especially for young photographers.
2019 cover image winner, Isaak Schiller said he enjoyed “scouting for locations…finding unique compositions that hadn’t yet been photographed” and that he’d wanted to capture an iconic view of the Barossa Valley, saying “nothing beats the view from the Mengler Hill lookout on a stormy afternoon”.
The diversity of the themes enables a wide scope for creativity and fresh perspectives.
Entries are now open, until 5 July, with winners to be announced on 2 August. The calendar will be launched with an opening event at the Barossa Regional Gallery, Basedow Road, on 31 August. The exhibition will run at the Gallery throughout September, with calendars available for purchase following the launch at various locations around the Barossa.
