NOTICE OF TEMPORARY CLOSURE | WESTERN SECTION OF PENGUIN FOSSICKING AREA

Residents are advised that an eastern section of Penguin Beach commonly known as ‘Glass Beach’ within the declared Penguin Fossicking Area has been closed to public access until further notice.

Recent inspections of the area have identified that the area has been undermined by tidal conditions and fossicking as well as containing limited amounts of a hazardous material.

Assessments to determine what is necessary to make the area safe is underway. There is no risk posed by the hazardous material to local residents or swimmers of nearby beaches.

Further information on this temporary closure will be provided once investigations have been completed.
