The City of Swan has commenced modernisation works on the Swan Active Ballajura facility with works to be completed by the end of the year.
The $2 million upgrades are being undertaken to improve the facility for patrons, with a range of refurbishments and service upgrades taking place.
City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said the upgrades will offer the local community a much improved experience for all ages and abilities.
“These significant refurbishment works will provide a revitalised facility for our community to enjoy,” he said.
”The upgrades include re-tiling the pool area and its surrounds, refurbishing the kiosk and reception areas, and construction of a new shaded outdoor area.
“Our three Swan Active centres are important community assets and we have to ensure any upgrades to these facilities are for the utmost benefit of our patrons.”
Due to the significant upgrades Swan Active Ballajura will be closed during works. All patrons have the option of using other Swan Active facilities during this time.
Whiteman Ward Councillor Maria Haynes said the temporary closure of the facility was necessary but would be well worth the wait.
“The changes taking place at Swan Active Ballajura will provide a great benefit for families, community groups and school groups, and taking the time to get these upgrades right is very important,” she said.
“Once completed, the local community will have a leisure facility to be proud of and be a focal point for social interaction and recreation.”
