Corangamite Shire residents with a vision to make music into a business can gain expert insights at the Ideas Place Music Meet-Up in Cobden this month.
The event, at the Phoenix Project on Friday 14 June, will feature a guest performance by Joe Gardner using Alderwood Speakers made at the venue.
Ideas Place “Go To Guy” Gareth Colliton invited anyone with a music-related business idea to come along and take part.
“We come from a very innovative region, and our community are real leaders when it comes to music and festivals.
“It's a very interesting and exciting time in the music industry. There's been a real shake-up, and we've lost a lot of music venues. That loss is also an opportunity—we need people to step in to the gap and provide music services. It's a chance to create strong businesses and positive social impact.
“There's a lot of support out there for people to make their own way in small business today.
“Your niche idea can reach a global market as easily as it can a local one, opening up a world of possibilities. The Ideas Place is here to help, so get involved.”
Council Economic Development and Tourism Co-ordinator Samantha Fox encouraged anyone involved in musical projects or events to register and come along.
“This will be a great opportunity to learn from industry experts including Ali Kavanagh, Artist Management at Archie Roach Music, and Kennedys Creek Music Festival organising committee member Joe Gardner.
“The event is from 7-9 pm and drinks and nibbles will be provided.
“Attendees will be able to ask questions and network with other people to share skills and knowledge that could help transform their ideas into a business.”
The Ideas Place is a collaboration between Warrnambool City Council, Corangamite and Moyne Shires, LaunchVic, South West TAFE, Deakin University, Runway and the Great South Coast Food and Fibre Council and looks to connect like-minded business people and entrepreneurs help them create and grow their business ideas.
