RAD Walkers Group – New Members Encouraged to Join
City of Rockingham 10 Jun 2019

Otherwise known as the RAD Walkers, the group was formed in mid-2018 and is a partnership between the City of Rockingham, Alzheimer’s WA and Rockingham and Districts Alzheimer’s Inc.

The group offers people living with dementia, and their carers, an opportunity to make new friends in a supportive environment while keeping active at the same time.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the RAD Walkers group had an important role to play in fostering positive outcomes for people living with dementia, and their carers.

“Dementia is a growing problem across the country with more than 400,000 people living with dementia and 1.2 million involved in caring for those affected,” Mayor Sammels said.

“The City is committed to making Rockingham more age and dementia friendly and the RAD Walkers group is one avenue that gives residents the chance to connect with others in a similar situation. I encourage those living with dementia, and their carers, to get involved with this fantastic initiative.”

The RAD Walkers meet on the first and third Friday of every month from 10am – 11am at the Village Green on Flinders Lane in Rockingham.
