People in the Central Highlands are invited to share their thoughts on plans to improve the streetscapes of Blackwater, Capella, Emerald and Springsure as the Central Highlands Street Beautification Project goes into the next round.
Central Highlands Regional Council Mayor Kerry Hayes said draft designs were now available for public feedback.
‘The draft designs were developed with input from community design workshops held in March and April, and will enhance liveability, improve pedestrian access and safety and create an overall pleasing atmosphere for locals and visitors alike,’ Mayor Hayes said.
‘I encourage people to view the draft designs and provide feedback before designs are finalised.
‘Draft designs include improvements to the Crinum Street precinct in Capella, a calm traffic school drop-off zone at the primary school and improved walking route to the cultural and aquatic centres and showgrounds.
‘For Blackwater the draft designs include street facing buildings on vacant land opposite the shopping centre, improved pedestrian crossings to Blain Street and shade-providing street trees to create a pleasant environment for pedestrians.’
Draft design plans for Capella, Blackwater and for Emerald and Springsure are available to view on council’s online engagement platform Have Your Say.
They are open for feedback until 5.00 pm on 30 June 2019. Alternative formats are available on request by contacting 1300 242 686 or visiting a local council customer service centre.
