The final round of Council’s 2018/2019 Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) has opened and closes on 24 June 2019.

Queensland Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said investing in creative and cultural experiences through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) strengthened regional communities, boosted cultural tourism, and enhanced the quality of life in rural and remote towns and cities.

“RADF is a unique partnership between the Queensland Government and Charters Towers Regional Council to support local talent, unite communities and celebrate the arts across the state.”

“The Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland, is contributing $2.08 million in 2018-19 in partnership with 58 councils statewide to help deliver cultural experiences which align with local priorities,” Ms Enoch said.

In the previous round, 5 applications were approved and included, ukulele, line dancing and pottery workshops, a choral festival and the spectacular mural that can be seen on the front wall of the Kennedy Regiment Memorial Pool. 

The local priorities for this round are Music and Partnership with the target groups being regional Queenslanders, young people, children, tourists and men.

These priorities aim to stimulate economic growth through the arts and encourage young people to become a part of the arts landscape in both traditional and non-traditional forms. It also enhances the liveability of our townships through public art or events.

We also recognise the importance of retelling the story of our diverse history and that partnerships between the arts and non-arts community can allow for wider exposure to artistic expression.
