Horace Street Parkland, which has recently been rezoned to aged care, presents an opportunity for developers in the heart of Dalby.
Western Downs Regional Council is seeking tenders for the purchase of 1 hectare of land currently known as the Horace Street Parkland.
The land has recently been rezoned from parkland to aged care, making it of specific interest for the development of a facility to deliver aged care services, assisted living services or specialised care.
The park currently has dual-street access from both Pratten and Condamine Streets and is surrounded by residential properties.
Western Downs Mayor Paul McVeigh believes that this presents a great opportunity for providers who have an interest in the Western Downs region.
“One of our greatest strengths is our strong and diverse economy which is very attractive to investors who are considering bringing an assisted living or aged care facility to Dalby,” he said.
Dalby Chamber of Commerce President Rohan May said he was very pleased to see this project come to fruition.
“The Chamber has been pushing for this, so we’re really pleased that it’s now moved into the next phase,” he said.
“It’s great for the community on a few different levels, for the services it will provide in the future either as an aged care or an assisted living residential facility and the local jobs it will create.”
Spokesperson for Economic Development and Tourism Councillor Donna Ashurst said that Council has streamlined internal processes for development approvals which has resulted in faster turnaround times.
“Our award-winning modern planning scheme is one of the most contemporary in Queensland and cutting out red tape where we can, means that new projects can get up and running faster,” she said.
“It is because of this that the Western Downs has developed a good reputation as a place to do business.”
