Broome’s beaches are filling up fast with people wanting to enjoy our beautiful coastline and sunsets, making safety paramount including observing the 15kmh speed limit on Cable Beach.
Shire Rangers are now tackling the ongoing issue of vehicles speeding on Cable Beach north of the rocks and at Gantheaume Point.
Rangers will be on the beach regularly with a laser speed gun to enforce the speed limit with warnings and infringements where required.
Drivers can be fined $175 for exceeding the 15kmh speed limit under the Shire of Broome’s Local Government Property and Public Places Local Law.
Rangers will also monitor parking on Cable Beach including ensuring that vehicles move north of the rocks after driving onto the beach.
