Ride sharing company Uber has announced plans to introduce flying taxis in Melbourne by 2023, and the concept has leaders in regional and remote areas excited.

The taxis will be electric vertical take-off and land aircraft that will be used to travel from one fixed point to another.

As Boulia mayor Rick Britton tells Dan Prosser, such a service could make a huge difference in remote areas, particularly in the area of health.

He discusses how the development would make it easier to have blood tests, fill prescriptions, and deliver goods.
