A total of 2320 head of cattle were yarded at Blackall's prime and store sale on Thursday. The cattle were yarded from Blackall, Aramac, Alice Springs, Tambo, Yaraka, Isisford, Jericho, Barcaldine, Longreach, Winton and Jundah.

With a full panel of buyers in attendance, Blackall market followed all other market trends this week. Prime cattle remained firm and good quality store cattle were also firm, with plainer quality cattle easing across all descriptions.

Steers over 550kg sold to 270.2c, average 262.1c, steers 400-550kg made 278.2c, average 247.7c, steers 350-400kg reached 264.2c, average 222.7c, steers 280-350kg made 280.2c, average 236.3c, steers 220-280kg sold to 287.2c, averaging 257.8c, and steers under 220kg sold to 282.2c, average 247.9c. Mickeys made to 244.2c, to average 220.7c.

Cows and calves made to $850/unit, average $830/unit. Heifers over 450kg sold to 254.2c, averaging 225.3c, heifers 350-450kg made 246.2c, average 194.3c, heifers 280-350kg reached 220c, average 194.7c, heifers 220-280kg sold to 204.2c, averaging 187.1c, and heifers under 220kg made 206.2c, average 186.8c.

Bulls over 450kg made 250.2c, average 212.9c. Cows 300-400kg sold to 171.2c, average 132.8c, cows 400-500kg made 200.2c, average 163.1c, and cows over 500kg reached 210.2c, to average 194.9c.
