Liverpool City Council is calling on Liverpool residents to nominate locals who are doing great things for the community to receive an Order of Liverpool Award.
“Each year Liverpool City Council proudly recognises the achievements of local people and the contributions they have made to enhance the quality of life within our city, in a voluntary capacity, through the Order of Liverpool Awards,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.
There are three categories of awards: The Companion of the Order of Liverpool is the most prestigious of the awards, followed by the Officer of the Order of Liverpool and the Member of the Order of Liverpool.
“Past Order of Liverpool Award recipients have done remarkable work for the people of our great city,” Mayor Waller said.
“2018 Companion of the Order of Liverpool recipient Judith Banks has helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities, including Liverpool West Rotary and Quota, while fellow recipient Kevin Moore has worked tirelessly to support the welfare of homeless people in Liverpool and South West Sydney.
“Whether it’s your next door neighbour, a student, family friend or charity worker devoting their personal time to improve our community – I encourage people to nominate our city’s unsung heroes to give them the recognition they deserve.”
To be eligible, nominees are to be ratepayers or residents in the Liverpool local government area that have made a significant contribution over a number of years to the Liverpool community in one or more of the following categories; civic, community, recreation and sports, or commerce and industry. Nominee contributions to the Liverpool community must be predominantly voluntary and not solely as a result of paid employment.
People who reside outside of the Liverpool local government area but contribute to the Liverpool community can be nominated as ’honorary’ members of the Order of Liverpool.

The Order of Liverpool Awards are presented annually on 7 November, the date Liverpool was founded.
