City of Darwin has been presented the Gold Award for their 2017/18 Annual Report for the sixth consecutive year.
The announcement was made overnight at a gala presentation in Melbourne for the Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA).
The Awards, established in 1950, recognise excellence in reporting and are open to all organisations that produce an annual report, including all private sector, public sector and not-for-profit organisations in Australia, New Zealand and countries in the Asia-Pacific region and elsewhere.
Reporting is always changing and community awareness in governance continues to increase. The criteria by which annual reports are assessed needs to be constantly reviewed and updated to meet changing business and community expectations and recommendations.
The ARA provide an opportunity for organisations to benchmark their reports against world best practice and receive expert feedback.
There are three types of Awards; the General Award, the Sustainability Reporting Award and the Special Awards. Winners are awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze.
City of Darwin was the Gold Winner in the General Award and there were 41 entries in 2017/18 Award.
Melissa Reiter, General Manager External Affairs and Government Relations said “I’m extremely proud of the hard work my team has put into producing the 2017/18 Annual Report and those of earlier years.”
“Being awarded six Gold Awards in a row for our Annual Report is no mean feat and demonstrates that my team and the entire organisation are operating at a national level.”
“A new executive team has brought a fresh ‘can do’ attitude and renewed focus on providing the best service and services to the Darwin community.”
“This prestigious Award recognises City of Darwin’s commitment to innovation; as the platform to drive efficiencies, improve the delivery of services to our community and better understand our local environment.”
