There will be plenty to see and do this July in the Gympie region to celebrate the school holidays.

Attend the Tin Can Bay Yacht Club on Thursday 4 July from 1.30pm to 3.30pm and try Dragon Boating.

This unique activity emphasises fun, fitness and friendship.

The Cooloola Dragon Boat Club offers the very best elements of Dragon Boating, so come and try this amazing sport and have a great afternoon out on the water. This session is for kids 10 and over and costs $5, with bookings essential.

If you are a skateboarder or wish to learn, join the free skate clinic at the Goomeri Skate Park, Maudsley Street, Goomeri on Friday 5 July from 10am to 12pm and learn all the tips and tricks from a qualified coach. Skateboards and helmets are available on the day. This clinic is for kids between the ages of 8 to 14 years, with bookings essential.

On Wednesday 10 July from 8am to 2.30pm, join in the action at the Tansey Tennis Club as a qualified coach will be there to help you learn the basics of tennis or take your game to the next level. All skill levels are welcome and free snacks and lunch are available. This event is for kids between the ages of 3 -17 years and costs $5, with bookings essential.

Bring the whole family to Gympie Central Shopping Centre on Thursday 4 July from 10am to 1pm, for free creative activities hosted by the Gympie Regional Gallery. Create bugs, insects and other creepy crawly creatures with paint and wax crayons. All art supplies will be provided on the day.

Join our wonderful team at the gallery on Friday 12 July from 1pm to 3pm and have fun expressing yourself with colours. Create artworks of amazing flying creatures using pencils, crayons, paint and ink as part of Butterfly Flutterfly Fun. The event is for kids 6 and over and costs $8 per child, with bookings essential.

The Gympie Regional Libraries are also celebrating the school holidays, with an amazing array of activities to choose from. Come along and join in the free games, activities, stories and fun as we celebrate Andy Lee’s amazing picture book series Do Not Open This Book. This event is being held across the region, check the Holiday Fun program or visit your local library for dates and times. This free event is for kids between the ages of 5 - 8 years, with bookings essential.

Another event held across all the libraries is Florette’s Mini Garden. To celebrate this wonderful tale, create your own mini succulent planter or terrarium.
