The City of Ballarat’s Community Impact Special Committee has allocated $41,896 in funding to 12 not-for-profit local community groups. 

As part of Round Four of the Community Impact Grants, the range of organisations set to benefit include: 

Ballarat Deaf Social Club – $1,399 for remote video conferencing  Sebastopol Men’s Shed – $355 with funding to provide uniforms for cooks in the kitchen as part of There’s a Chef in There  Ballarat and District Suicide Prevention Network – $3,191 for the establishment of a series of four pollinator-friendly demonstration garden plots in Delacombe, as part of #30 Green Minutes @ Gun Cotton  Ballarat Polocrosse Club – $6,000 for polocrosse club equipment  Lake Wendouree Football Netball Club – $9,091 for club room chairs  Ballarat Water Polo Inc – $5,814 for basic equipment purchase  Committee for Miners Rest – $8,055 to finance the Miners Rest Newsletter  Ballarat Community FM Radio – $2,110 for volunteer training  161 Recce Flt Association Ballarat Branch – $1,114 for the Possum 54 Reunion. This group features ex-members of the original 161 (Independent) Reconnaissance Flight, South Vietnam and former and serving personnel of the present 161 Reconnaissance Squadron. The reunion event is honouring 54 years since the first deployment of the Unit to Vietnam and it is also the 50th anniversary of the death of two pilots, who were killed in action  Friends of Learmonth – $1,360 for Bookstop. This initiative is the transformation of an old bus stop and shelter in High Street, Learmonth, into a neighbourhood-style free community library/book swap.  Ballarat South Senior Citizens – $2,185 for Ballarat South Seniors Ball  Ballarat Children’s Garden Network – $1,222 for a marketing project 

Two community grant writing workshops will be held on 31 July at the Lucas Community Hub to assist groups wanting to learn how to write grant applications. Sessions will be held from 9.30am-12.30pm and from 5.30-8.30pm.
