“For the week ending 21 June, the following key works were completed by Council staff”, noted Council’s Mayor, Cr. Ray Thompson.
“Within the urban Lithgow area last week, Council staff continued working towards the completion of a number of storm water infrastructure repairs,” said Mayor Thompson. “Repairs to the storm water infrastructure underneath Knight Street, Lithgow is ongoing. While some delays to required materials have caused the project to take longer than expected, works will be completed in the coming week. Additionally, staff completed drainage improvements at Wrights Road Lane, Clwydd Street Lane and Martini Lane in response to requests from the community,” said Mayor Thompson.
“In the last week Council’s rural works staff have continued their focus on the maintenance of sealed and unsealed roads,” noted Mayor Thompson. “The maintenance grading of McManus Road, Portland and Palmers Oakey Road is ongoing while Peach Tree Road and Cullenbenbong Road is complete. Alongside this maintenance, asphalt patching has occurred on Cullenbenbong Road, Blackberry Lane (Wallerawang) and Wolgan Road (Lidsdale) with staff working overtime to have improvement works completed on Glen Alice Road. Lastly, staff have also completed roadside slashing on Sodwalls Tarana Road and Magpie Hollow Road.”
“I’d like to take this time to remind the community that as with all organisations, Council is limited by its resources and must do what it can to prioritise works and other requirements as they are identified. In some instances, if a request is made and works elsewhere in the LGA are more urgent based on engineer assessment, resources are assigned accordingly and it may take some time for the request to be completed.”
“However, for such a decision on priority to be made it is acknowledged that an inspection is required and once this decision is made, it must be communicated to the individual. Therefore, it is very important for requests to be made to the Council administration directly, in the first instance, by phone, email or letter. This way, requests are recorded and an audit trail is created to ensure follow up in due course,” said Mayor Thompson.
