Lithgow City Council has provided an update on the progress of applications lodged for assistance under the Federal Government’s recently announced $1million Drought Communities Programme for the Lithgow Local Government area. Approved projects have to be fully complete and expended by 31st December 2019 with Lithgow only being informed of its allocation on the 3rd April 2019.

Council, at its meeting of 27th May 2019 resolved to lodge an application for funding for 13 Projects totaling $1million ( view Resolution 19-122 ) under the Drought Communities Programme and is currently awaiting advice regarding the success of its application which was lodged on the 5th June 2019.

“The projects agreed to by Council, were derived from community and NSW Farmers Hartley Branch submissions, received after Council consulted with the Lithgow Community during the period 18th April 2019 to 10th May 2019 during the Easter/Anzac period “ said General Manager Graeme Faulkner.

“Council is keen to get approval advice as soon as possible, given a requirement for the project funding requires project completion by 31st December 2019 which is a much reduced timeframe for Lithgow compared to those Local Government Authorities that were advised of their application approval success in excess of twelve months ago” said the General Manager.
