The City of Busselton is inviting mobile food vendors with a current registration under the Food Act 2008 to submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) to operate at approved locations and for itinerant trading across the municipality.
The process is being conducted to allocate trading permits for the next two years in a fair and equitable manner. Trading sites have been selected by the City after considering safety issues, access to passing trade, visual amenity and continued support of established demand. The sites are in well-utilised and accessible public locations including (but not limited to): Meelup Beach Carpark; Rotary Park (Causeway Road); Dunsborough Skate Park; Yallingup Beach (Slippery Rocks Carpark); and Dolphin Road Carpark.
Mayor Grant Henley said that both Council and the community value the contribution of mobile traders. “We rely upon mobile food vendors to add character and vibrancy - their services enhance the recreational experience for local people and visitors alike and help meet demand particularly during the peak tourist season. Our objective in pursing an expression of interest process is to ensure mobile food traders and permanent businesses have fair trading opportunity and that members of the public have access to goods and services.”
Applicants are encouraged to view the Mobile Food Vendor EoI Fixed Site and Itinerant Guidelines which contain useful information about site locations, fees and how the applications will be assessed. The Guidelines and further information can be viewed on the City of Busselton Website https://www.busselton.wa.gov.au/Environment-Waste/Environmental-Health/Trading-in-Public-Places Expression of
Interests and applications are to be submitted by the 7 June 2019.
