Community asked to provide feedback on local trails

Cessnock City Council are asking the community to provide information and feedback on local trails by undertaking a survey and attending a community workshop.

The information collected during the community engagement will inform a Trails Strategy that will provide a strategic framework for the future development and management of trails within the Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA).

The Cessnock LGA is home to many trails, some of these are informal trails located in the Hunter Valley Wine District, national parks and other natural areas. The challenge is the trails are not formally mapped and their condition is unknown.

Trails will now be audited and mapped. This will allow for these trails to be better utilised by not only locals but visitors to the region.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said the strategy will assist in generating more opportunities for recreational enjoyment.

“We have a beautiful natural environment that can be enjoyed from a walk, ride or run down a trail. It would be fantastic to see these trails better utilised and enjoyed.”

To do the survey visit www.surveymonkey.com/CessnockTrails. The survey will close on Monday 8 July 2019. The community workshop will be held at Council’s Administration Building (the Ante Room) on Thursday 18 July 2019 from 6pm to 7.30pm. Please RSVP to [email protected]

Council have engaged planning specialist Tredwell to assist with this project.
