Community grants: Round 1 Announced

Charters Towers Regional Council has awarded almost $51,000 to local organisations in the latest funding round of the Community Grants Program. 

Successful groups included local sporting clubs, music clubs, Minister’s Fraternal, School P & C’s, Senior Citizen Club, and a number of other not for profit organisations across the region.

Council commenced its Community Grants Program in January 2014. Two separate rounds are called during a financial year; the first round in May (for the period 1 July to 31 December) and the second round in November (for the period 1 January to 30 June).

Mayor Liz Schmidt said the Community Grants Program funds organisations to assist in the progression towards self-sustainability. 

“These groups are instrumental in the promotion and development of the Region, with volunteers donating invaluable hours to advance our community.  It is important for Council to support all their hard work by funding endeavours that will only strengthen these groups.”
