Colac Otway adopts 2019-20 Budget

Colac Otway Shire Council has adopted its 2019-20 Budget including a 0.5 per cent rate increase.

The rate increase is well below the state rate cap of 2.5 per cent and will deliver one of the lowest rate increases in Colac Otway’s history.

Council’s Budget also includes a $450,000 reduction in staff wages in the 2019-20 financial year.

Council chief executive Peter Brown said the organisation hoped to achieve the required wage reductions through reviewing and restructuring positions as staff resigned or retired, with direct staff cuts a last option to achieve the Council Budget requirement.

"Council is unable to identify the potential impact that staff reductions will have on services at this stage however management is committed to delivering the budget as adopted at last night's meeting."
