The City of Ballarat Chief Executive Officer report for May and June highlights issues and outcomes affecting the organisation's performance, as it delivers services and implements the Council's strategies and policy decisions.

Key achievements, projects and events delivered included:

The adoption of the 2019/20 City of Ballarat budget. Hosting of the 12th annual Get into Games Expo at the Mining Exchange – the only event of its kind in regional Australia. This year’s event enabled 150 secondary students from the region to hear from Australian games development industry speakers. Exhibited at the National Manufacturing Week industry expo and conference in Melbourne. Over four days more than 10,000 attended the event, with City of Ballarat staff speaking to attendees about the benefits Ballarat offers business.

The Ballarat Integrated Transport Plan consultation began with the release of the Ballarat Transport Overview, Rail Network discussion paper and background report. 16 Bridge Mall Consultation Hub. Bakery Hill and Bridge Mall Precinct Urban Renewal Plan - phase two of community engagement is now underway. Dowling Forest Precinct Planning Controls Review – community workshop held at the Miners Rest Town Hall to discuss preliminary findings.

Ongoing projects, initiatives and works:

White Night announcement for Saturday 21 September. Becoming Modern Exhibition launch at the Art Gallery of Ballarat. Backspace Gallery: Liz Souter Retrospective. Eureka Centre building works - transforming old office space into a heritage research hub that will house the Ballarat Libraries’ Australiana Collection of historical material and associated research services. Latrobe Saleyards Precinct Urban Renewal Plan – background paper is being prepared and will be released for targeted consultation in mid-2019. Sealing of unsealed shoulder in Leith St. Scotsburn Hall – roof replaced, insulation added and new heating and cooling installed.
