Community Scorecard Results
City of Armadale 1 Jul 2019

City of Armadale residents have rated local services and facilities provided by the City in its biennial Community Scorecard survey.

“Thank you to our residents who recently completed our Community Scorecard Survey. Your feedback has confirmed that the City is delivering great things for our community and where you’d like us to focus in future,” said Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP.

“Overall 91% of residents said they thought that the City was a great place to live.

“Our community’s feedback told us that what they value most about their home continues to be parks and playgrounds, access to local services and facilities, the natural environment, bushland, and access to local shopping. This is great news as we put significant efforts into these areas.”

The City is also pleased that 87% of residents are satisfied with the City as a governing organisation, and believe that the City works hard to deliver for all residents.

Overall the community said they were satisfied with the City’s services including sport and recreation, playgrounds, parks and reserves, festivals, events, art and culture and the City Views newsletter.

“We’re glad residents are pleased with these things, as we work hard on them to ensure the things you value most about your community are maintained,” added Mayor Zelones.

Across the community the top priorities for the future continue to be streetscapes, value for money, economic development, anti-social behaviour and community safety.

“One area responders said needed improvement was in developing and communicating a vision for the future of the City, so we’re promoting the community’s vision for – a livable City that is responsive to community values, appreciative of our natural environment, and provides a choice of lifestyle and work.”

The City is already working on areas that the community think are priorities for the future including maintaining streetscapes through the Urban Forest Strategy planting and education programs, and delivering on the City’s Economic Development Strategy 2018 – 2022 by encouraging infrastructure and investment through advocacy and promotion, and supporting new and existing businesses.

“In terms of value for money for our residents, the City is focusing on reducing operational costs, to bring ratepayers improved value for money. This means Council could deliver a smaller than projected rates increase this year.

“We know community safety and anti-social behavior are always important to our community, so we continue to work closely with WA Police, and other community organisations. We also encourage building and planning decisions which lead to communities that feel safe and encourage community interaction and relationship building.”

The survey was conducted by an independent research agency, Catalyse, who completed the scorecard via a random and statistically representative sample of over 500 residents to evaluate community perceptions of performance.

“The results assist the City in planning for the future, as they help us understand the needs of residents and how the wider community perceives our efforts towards key performance indicators in the City’s Strategic Community Plan.”
