Stand up. Speak out. Council officially named a White Ribbon Workplace

Ronan Smyth congratulated Northern Beaches Council after we recently achieved official accreditation as a White Ribbon Workplace.

“It is a big deal, and something all the staff and management should be very proud of,’’ Mr Smyth, White Ribbon’s Executive Manager for Workplace Programs, said.

“We certainly don’t just give accreditation lightly, specific criteria needs to be met.

“It is obvious Northern Beaches Council is committed to doing their bit to educate people about the unacceptable levels of men’s violence towards women in Australia.”

With Council being the biggest employer of local residents stretching from Manly to Palm Beach, it is significant for our local area that we have achieved White Ribbon workplace status.

By achieving accreditation, Council has made a commitment to help stop violence against women and strengthen a culture of respect and gender equality.

Accreditation has involved extensive training of our managers, internal awareness programs and support for community events that spread the White Ribbon message.

And Council will be continuing these programs to reach more people over the coming years.
