Wednesday 3 July 2019

In an attempt to relieve some of the pressure from the ongoing drought and offer support to local businesses, Tamworth Regional Council has partnered with the Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner to deliver a free visual merchandising workshop to help increase sales and boost productivity.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday 9 July from 6pm to 8pm at the former Lands Building (25 Fitzroy St) and will be facilitated by visual merchandising expert Charmaine Corcoran.

Charmaine is a consultant and founder of Visual Experience, offering decades of experience in advising retail, commercial and residential businesses of ways that they can use visual merchandising and instore experiences to attract customers and enhance sales.

The partnership between Council and NSW Small Business Commissioner comes after Commissioner, Robyn Hobbs OAM visited Tamworth in April 2019 to personally discuss the impact that the devastating drought is having on local businesses.

Coordinator of Economic and Destination Develop at Tamworth Regional Council, Kate Baker said “We are really excited to work with the NSW Small Business Commissioner and welcome Charmaine to Tamworth to help our local businesses and community who are all feeling the ongoing impacts of the crippling drought.

“Times are tough, disposable income is low and Council is wanting to do all it can to support local businesses; hosting a workshop in visual merchandising is one way to do this.”

The workshops will be tailored to local businesses and provide tips to attract customers, increase sales and drive economic growth for participating businesses that will ultimately benefit the wider Tamworth region.

Council is encouraging all retail businesses across the region to sign-up for the workshop.

“It will be a great night, where like-minded people and local businesses owners and operators can get together, share their thoughts and feedback and discover new strategies to deal with an issue that is affecting the whole community,” added Kate.

The workshops will be held on Tuesday 9 July from 6pm to 8pm at 25 Fitzroy Street, Tamworth (former Crown Lands Building).
