RADF round kickstarts Central Highlands arts projects

More than $8,500 has been allocated to local arts and cultural projects under the fourth round of the 2018 – 2019 financial year’s Regional Arts Development Fund.
Two group application and two council-initiated projects were amongst the four successful projects.
Our Rainbow House received $780 to hold drumming workshops and host a performance.
The Emerald Photographic Club received $5,577 to host a social documentary workshop.
Central Highlands Arts and Cultural Advisory Committee received $758 towards their Blackall Arts Precinct Research Project and $1,500 to support and promote the art tour to be held as part of the 2019 Arts in August celebrations.
Mayor Cr Kerry Hayes congratulated the successful applicants and encouraged applications for grants in the next financial year.
‘Council is committed to growing our local arts and cultural sector and improving the opportunities available to people to participate in and experience these activities,’ he said.
‘Congratulations to all our recipients, I look forward to seeing more of our local arts and cultural groups take advantage of Regional Arts Development Funding over the next year.’
Queensland Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said investing in creative and cultural experiences through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) strengthened regional communities, boosted cultural tourism, and enhanced the quality of life in rural and remote towns and cities.
‘RADF is a unique partnership between the Queensland Government and Central Highlands Regional Council to support local talent, unite communities and celebrate the arts across the state.
‘The Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland, is contributing $2.08 million in 2018-19 in partnership with 58 councils state-wide to help deliver cultural experiences which align with local priorities,’ Ms Enoch said.
The Regional Arts and Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Central Highlands Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
