We love the parks and open spaces along our coastline – they’re part of what makes Queenscliff such a special place. And the Ocean View precinct, with its fantastic views, historic lighthouse and direct access to Hesse Street, is a favourite. But while the area has a lot to love, we’re looking at ways to make the existing Ocean View precinct more welcoming to everyone. And the Ocean View precinct, with its fantastic views, historic lighthouse and direct access to Hesse Street, is a favourite.

But while the area has a lot to love, we’re looking at ways to make the existing Ocean View precinct more welcoming to everyone. By making the site more accessible for pedestrians, honouring the significance of the remembrance markers, and creating more spaces to spend time in the fresh air, we can make the Ocean View precinct a treasure for residents, and a destinationfor everyone.

What we're working on now

We received feedback from the community that aspects of the original vision for the precinct didn’t match up with how some people had imagined itWe received feedback from the community that aspects of the original vision for the precinct didn’t match up with how some people had imagined itbeing improved. As a result, we’ve taken parts of the plan back to the drawing board, and incorporated this feedback into a new framework for the area.

This new framework plan is a guide on how different parts of the Ocean View precinct could be made even better. We’re now seeking your input on the framework plan before further developing the project.

Community input has changed the plan

The new framework makes a number of changes to the project plan in response to community feedback. Three elements in particular have been reconsidered.

The kiosk

The plan for the kiosk now includes a new building in a similar location with modern facilities, and retains its essential character as a small serving area loved by locals.

The bull ring

The bull ring location will be a focal point in the new plan, with options to enhance the remembrance significance of the location and help form a centrepiece of the Ocean View precinct.

The accommodation

Changes to accommodation plans now include upgrading existing cabins and the construction of five new, similar cabins next to them. The current plan considers how we can improve this feature to better sit within the natural landscape, and add to the appeal of the existing accommodation.

How we’ll use your feedback

We’ll take all the feedback we receive and compile it into a report that summarises how the community thinks we can best improve the Ocean View precinct. Project managers will then use this feedback report to plan and inform the detailed design. We’ll also email participants to keep themupdated as the project progresses.
