Public computers and cloud-based printing for Central Highlands libraries

Central Highlands libraries will be the first in Australia to use cloud-based printing software Princh as part of an upgrade to its public access computers.
Central Highlands Regional Council General Manager Communities Daniel Fletcher said the upgrade was a big service improvement for library users.
‘Instead of being coin machine operated, computers in our libraries will now be free to use including applications like Microsoft Office and internet browsing,’ Mr Fletcher said.
‘We have also installed a version of Ancestry.com and a range of other resources for people to use.
‘User information is deleted automatically each time a user logs out and the computer automatically restarts.’
Printing will still be subject to a charge but European software company Princh allows multiple payment methods including Visa/ Mastercard, cash and Paypal.
‘Once fully implemented, our customers will be able to use an app to send documents to any of our library printers from their mobile device,’ Mr Fletcher said.
Central Highlands libraries also continue to work on improving public Wi-Fi across their branches and recently sent a booster to Rolleston with future focus on Dingo, Duaringa and Rubyvale.
