The community consultation will be held at the skate boarding workshop at Leumeah Skate Park on Saturday 13 July.BMX enthusiasts and skateboarders are invited to have their say on the design of a new asphalt pump track to be built in Leumeah.
Council’s open space design team will hold a community workshop at Leumeah Skatepark on Saturday 13 July from 10am to 12pm to find out from residents what they would like to see incorporated into the new track.
The consultation session will be run in conjunction with a skate workshop from Totem Skateboarding.
A pump track is a circuit of rollers, banked turns and features designed to be ridden completely by riders generating momentum by up and down body movements, known as pumping, instead of pedalling or pushing.
The pump track will be designed to allow for skating, scooting, rollerblading, BMX and mountain biking.
Mayor George Brticevic said the new track is an example of Council’s commitment to providing community facilities for the region’s youth.
“We have industry leaders on board to aid in the design of the track, but first we want to hear from the community to understand what they would like see at this new facility” said Mayor Brticevic.
“The existing skate park at Leumeah is a very popular location and our new pump track will be another great space for young people in the area to enjoy.”
Residents can provide feedback for two weeks after the workshop through Council’s website. More information will be provided about this after the workshop.
