NAIDOC Week celebrations will be held across the Moree Plains Shire from 7 - 22 July 2019 to celebrate the history, culture, achievements and valuable contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Moree Plains Shire Council proudly supports NAIDOC Week activities with an annual contribution of $4000 for events held in Moree, Boggabilla and Mungindi.
Moree Plains Shire Council’s Director of Corporate Services, Mr Mitchell Johnson said Council was committed to the development of its second Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) over the coming year and proactively promoting reconciliation through community involvement and education during NAIDOC week.
“As an organisation, Moree Plains Shire Council is committed to contributing to the ongoing implementation of our Reconciliation Action Plan through a committed focus on relationships, respect and recognition.”
NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
“Council wishes to extend their congratulations to everyone involved in hosting, contributing and participating in NAIDOC Week Celebrations in 2019,” Mr Johnson said.
