Community grant applications open

Posted on July 11, 2019

Central Highlands Regional Council’s second round of the Community Grants Program opens from 15 July to 31 August 2019.

Mayor Kerry Hayes said the grants support local groups and organisations in the delivery of community programs and equipment or facilities and are an opportunity to build capacity and provide value.

‘Our annual Community Grants Program recognises our community groups, clubs and not-for-profits and helps them to develop their capacity and bring innovative programs and activities to the community,’ he said.

‘The region has seen some fantastic initiatives and outcomes from community grants like most recently the NAIDOC Many Mobs Festival which was supported by a community grant.’

The program sees a variety of projects and events delivered across the region each year, including sport events, cultural exhibitions and workshops, education and training and much more.

The round two categories and allocations are as follows:

Community assistance

This category supports the delivery of programs, projects and activities that benefit communities in the region with amounts available up to $5,000.

Sport and recreation assistance

These grants aim to help sport and recreation groups build capacity, purchase and upgrade equipment and facilities and host events and provide programs to the community. Amounts available are up to $5,000.

Community improvement

Organisations with a focus on completing aspiration of their community in accordance with the CH2022 community plan can apply for grants up to $20,000.

‘I encourage groups to plan their grant application early,’ Cr Hayes said.

‘Read the guidelines, plan your project, and importantly contact council with questions about your application to ensure it meets the guidelines to give it every chance of success.’

Applications close 5.00 pm on Friday 31 August 2019.

Application forms and guidelines are available on council’s website and in libraries, offices and rural transaction centres. For further information, please contact council on 1300 242 686 or click here.
