Closure of footbridge at Tallawarra Bay

Wollongong City Council has closed the footbridge over the Energy Australia power station intake channel at Tallawarra Bay due to safety concerns. Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to use an alternative crossing point further upstream and there is signage in place to provide direction to the other route. The decision to close the footbridge is due to corrosion of the structure and Council will carry out further investigations to review the bridge’s structural integrity.
