Public consultation on the City of Wanneroo’s draft Agribusiness Position Paper
Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts is encouraging people with an interest in the sector to proactively contribute during the 42 day consultation period.
“Now is a crucial time to be part of ensuring a sustainable and strong future for agribusiness which is an important strategic sector,” she said.
“A thriving agribusiness industry will support the City’s targets for local employment selfsufficiency through innovation and excellence and help grow our agri-tourism product and experiences.
“To support a robust and diverse economy, the City must continue to strive forward and Wanneroo is integral to Perth and Western Australia’s future food security providing healthy, high quality local produce for our growing population and potential export markets.
“Our growers make significant contributions to Perth’s agricultural production, generating 34 per cent of the total Gross Value of Agricultural Commodities produced in the Perth region. Wanneroo is vital in the food production chain not just as a producer but as an essential link for the State’s regional producers to local suburban markets.”
The consultation will run for 42 days finishing on 21 August, to give stakeholders and local agribusinesses the opportunity to provide feedback on the development of a final Position Paper.
