Eurobodalla councillors today agreed to lease part of the foyer in the council administration building in Moruya to Service NSW, providing residents with a one stop shop for council and NSW Government services.
The foyer will be redesigned to accommodate Service NSW as well as Council’s customer service team, offering residents convenient access to Roads and Maritime Services, Fair Trading, Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, Housing NSW, and Family and Community Services.
Service NSW approached Council earlier this year about co-locating their operations, and councillors have agreed to a two-year lease with an option for a further one year. Plans to redesign the foyer have been made collaboratively between the two organisations and the new fit out is expected to start in October and be complete by Christmas.
The Roads and Maritime Services office in Ford Street Moruya will close once the re-location is complete.
The building footprint will not change, but the internal layout of the foyer will be reconfigured to include a Service NSW service desk and waiting area, as well as kiosks for online services provided by both Service NSW and council.
Council’s customer service will move to the space directly in front of the public entry doors and Service NSW will be located in the area to the right of the entry doors.
Staff will share access to existing bathrooms, kitchen, lunch room and meeting areas. Two car spaces will be designated for driver testing in Vulcan Street on the golf course side.
Mayor Lindsay Brown says the co-location is a win for the community. “Service NSW and Council sharing a customer service space will create a vibrant and convenient community services hub for Eurobodalla residents. It’s a great outcome.”
Member for Bega Andrew Constance said that he was pleased that the two services were willing to work together for the benefit of residents.
“Service NSW provides access to more than 800 Government transactions in one location, giving residents access to transactions and services not previously available locally.
“This is about convenience and efficiency, it’s about reducing the hassle of dealing with Government, this will provide a one stop shop that locals have been asking for,” Mr Constance said.
