Council says repairs to a short section of road on Narooma’s Centenary Drive should get started during August and be complete by the October long weekend.
Last month’s severe storms caused a landslip, cutting off one lane and cracking parts of the road.
Drivers can still access Apex Park boatramp via Dalmeny Drive and Mill Bay boatramp from the highway, while residents of Williamson Drive can access their homes from Centenary Drive. The popular Mill Bay boardwalk that skirts Centenary Drive is open.
Council’s Works Manager Tony Swallow says the survey and design work to repair the road and secure the slip area is underway, with estimates and environmental approvals also being pursued.
“Council is eligible for NSW Government natural disaster funding to repair the slip, and additional improvements will be made to significantly reduce the possibility of further failures,” Mr Swallow said.
“Council staff are getting all the design and preliminary work done so we’re ready to go as soon as the funding is confirmed, and our advice is that we should be able to start work in August. Our aim will be to finish and have the road open in time for the October long weekend.
“Meanwhile, we ask that residents continue to obey signage and take care driving in the area.”
