The Little Sellers Art Prize call for entries is now in full swing and Eurobodalla’s young artists can use these school holidays to get their entry into tip top condition with a series of free art workshops this week.
The workshops will be run by artist and Council’s Coordinator for Arts and Culture Indi Carmichael between 11am and 12.30pm on Tuesday 5 July at Narooma Library, on Wednesday 6 July at Moruya Library and on Thursday 7 July at Batemans Bay Library.
The Little Sellers Art Prize is an addition to the Basil Sellers Art Prize stable for 2016, and attracts a $200 cash prize for the overall winner donated by philanthropist and patron of the arts, Mr Basil Sellers. Finalists’ work will be exhibited in Eurobodalla’s three libraries during the September school holidays.
Meanwhile, entries are now closed for the major Basil Sellers Art Prize and Ms Carmichael says there’s been an amazing turnout of artists for the biennial prize. “Entries from artists across south east NSW are now being prepped for judging and the exhibition promises to be absolutely beautiful,” she said.
The winner will be chosen from the hung exhibition, which opens on 13 October at the Mechanics Institute in Moruya, and placed in Mr Basil Seller’s private collection.
In addition to the $15,000 acquisitive prize donated by Basil Sellers, this year the Eurobodalla Shire Council is offering a Highly Commended prize of $1000 and South East Arts are offering a People’s Choice Award of $500.
