Time is running out for artists to enter the Basil Sellers Art Prize 2016, with entries for the prestigious prize closing at 4.30pm on Monday 27 June.
The acquisitive art prize is worth $15,000 in prize money and artists living in the Eurobodalla, Bega Valley, Cooma-Monaro, Snowy River and Bombala shires may enter.
In addition to the major prize, Eurobodalla Shire Council is offering a Highly Commended Award of $1000 and South East Arts will present a People’s Choice Award of $500.
All artworks must be original, one-off works, and the prize is open to a range of art forms, including sculpture, painting and mono prints.
Entries close 4.30pm Monday 27 June 2016 and judges will make the selection for the artworks to be exhibited from the digital images submitted by the artists.
The winner will be chosen from the hung exhibition, which opens on 13 October at the Mechanics Institute in Moruya, and placed in Mr Basil Seller’s private collection.
2016 sees an addition to the Basil Sellers Art Prize stable with the instigation of the Little Sellers Art Prize for artists in Eurobodalla under the age of 18. The Little Sellers will form part of the festivities in the lead up to the major prize. The theme of the prize is ‘Our Place’ and will be judged by Monika McInerney, creative program director at Belconnen Arts Centre. Finalists’ work will be exhibited in Eurobodalla’s three libraries during the September school holidays. Entry forms and conditions of entry for the Little Sellers Art Prize are available on Council’s website.
