Eurobodalla residents are being asked for their views about local parks, sportsgrounds and open spaces as part of a review of the Council's Recreation and Open Space Strategy.
Director of Community, Arts and Recreation Kathy Arthur says the review will examine how the changing recreation needs of the Eurobodalla community can be met. "The current strategy dates from 2010 and outlines how Council plans for and manages recreation spaces for the community," she said.
"We acknowledge that recreation is much more than playing sport and exercise, but includes activities like walking the dog, fishing, and even events.
"These activities positively impact the health, economy and liveability of our shire, and so it’s important for Council to know what residents think about the facilities and opportunities that are available. We also want to hear ideas about possible improvements that can be made into the future."
Three community drop-in sessions will be hosted next week where individuals and organisations can take the opportunity to talk with the consultants conducting the review. Local sporting and recreation groups have been contacted directly to invite them to attend.
The first session is in Moruya on Tuesday 14 June at the Dr Mackay Centre in Page Street. The Narooma and Batemans Bay sessions will both be held on Wednesday 15 June, at the Narooma Golf Club in Ballingalla Street and the Hanging Rock Function Centre in Hanging Rock Place. People can call in any time between 5.30pm and 7pm to any of the sessions to provide feedback and make suggestions.
For residents unable to attend the drop-in sessions, surveys will be available to complete from 12-30 June 2016 either online or in hard copy at Council's libraries and the Moruya Customer Service Centre.
