Eurobodalla Council will install a timber retaining wall at a popular swimming spot on Narooma’s Wagonga Inlet next week.

The work will take place on the Quota Park foreshore, where the sea water is eroding the low bank and reducing the grassy park area. Because the water is gentle and access off the bank is easy, the park and swimming area is popular for families with small children.

Although a rock wall would be more durable, Council decided on timber because it’s a more suitable surface for the location and matches in with the existing retaining wall to the south.

The retaining wall will be 60 metres long and around 0.5 metre high. Council’s contractor will start work on Monday and the project will be finished by the end of June. A set of concrete access stairs will also be built into the wall from the park to the sand.
