The first of Eurobodalla's new town entry signs was installed today in Batemans Bay.

Chamber of Commerce President Alan Rutherford was on hand with Mayor Lindsay Brown to unveil the sign near the Princes Highway-Kings Highway roundabout.

A second, identical sign will be installed in the next few weeks on the highway south of the council depot.

Different designs unique to Narooma and Moruya will appear at the northern and southern approaches to those towns in the coming weeks.

The signs were designed and made for Eurobodalla Council by a specialist design company in close consultation with the three Chambers of Commerce, councillors and staff.

Alan Rutherford said the business community has been waiting for this for a while. “We’ve worked hard with council to get something happening for the shire’s three main towns. Each sign is unique and gives our three main towns their own identity. The Bay sign looks great!” he said.

Mayor Lindsay Brown said the collaborative process with the chambers has been terrific. "We know these signs will send a really positive message to people visiting our three main towns, welcoming everybody to our beautiful part of the world.

“I am really appreciative that we’ve been able to work so closely with the three Chambers to achieve yet another positive outcome for businesses who provide employment and services to our whole community.”

The design for Batemans Bay features a faux-sandstone base with pillars made of structural polymer depicting surf-to-sand images. The diver, waterbirds, swordfish and cyclist are watermarks, while the boat and lettering are made of metal. A three dimensional swoosh in Eurobodalla branding colours links the design with a river theme that shows movement and connection.
